SA: Presenter tells of Ghan horror
An Adelaide television presenter .. caught up in the Ghan passenger train crash ..
says he's thankful to be alive.
MARK AISTON .. a Channel Ten sports presenter in Adelaide .. was on board the train
when it collided with a truck at a level crossing and derailed 130 kilometres south of
Darwin yesterday.
He's told ABC radio he was in the dining car when he heard the horrific noise of the
train coming off the rails .. and the carriage in front jack-knifing.
A 50-year-old woman's in a critical but stable condition after the crash .. while three
other people .. including the truck driver .. are in a satisfactory condition in hospital.
The track's been closed until further notice .. and today's Darwin-to-Adelaide service
has been cancelled.
