NSW: Man accused of dumping body said woman was next court

A man accused of illegally dumping the body of a murdered prostitute in Sydney's Georges
River allegedly told another sex worker that she would be next.

KENNETH ALLAN GOODWIN, an unemployed 59-year-old from inner-city Waterloo today faced
Burwood Local Court.

He was said to have offered an indignity to THERESA PETER, a dead human body.

The 16-year-old street worker's body was found by a kayaker, naked and stuffed in a
sports bag in Sydney's Georges River on March 4 last year.

If found guilty of placing her there, GOODWIN faces a maximum penalty of two years jail.

If it's further established she was alive at the time GOODWIN could face murder charges.

Giving evidence, NINA NAISMITH, 18, says GOODWIN told her she was next.

Detective Sergeant GARY CLARK later told the court it was likely a coronial inquest
would be held into Ms PETER's death.

Mr CHICKEN again applied for a stay of proceedings until after any such inquiry.

Magistrate MICHAEL PRICE will rule on the stay at 9.30am tomorrow.
